MUMBAI: Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain, a popular comedy show on &TV, is one of the most popular sitcoms on television.
For the past seven years, the show has been running on small screens with great popularity. Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain has its own fan following, which adds to its popularity among viewers. We've seen how the creators have skillfully crafted each and every character, each of whom is distinct in their own right. All of the characters, from Angoori Bhabhi to Vibhuti, have become highly popular among fans.
Saanand Verma plays the role of Anokhelal Saxena, also known as Saxena Ji, who is a brilliant and talented man who has a fixation with electrocuting himself, torturing himself, and consuming virtually anything dangerous or unhealthy, such as lizard soup and cockroach tea. He generally shows his love of insanity by stating "I Like It!" which highlights his obsessive masochism. He is shown to have a variety of talents throughout the show, including being a lawyer, an artist, an actor, a writer, and a singer, among others. The cause of his madness is never revealed. For being maternal figures in his life, he refers to Angoori and Anita as "Bhabhi Maa."
Saanand is a very dynamic actor with a plethora of roles to his credit, from playing Shadiram in Hum do Humare do to having recurring characters on F.I.R for many years. He is currently seen on Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hai.
TellyChakkar exclusively spoke to Saanand Verma on the sets of ' Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hai's seven-year celebration.
The show has been going strong for seven years. How has this journey been for you?
My journey with this show has been mindblowing, and it is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I feel very fortunate to have gotten. Playing this character has been a life-changing experience. I feel like I am very lucky and it is god's blessing that I got this chance. I would like to give credit and extend my gratitude to the producers Binaffer Kohli and Sanjay Kohli for creating such an iconic show and giving me this opportunity.
Anokhelal Saxena, also known as Saxena Ji, has gone on to become quite an iconic character and has been a staple of the show. What are your thoughts on this character?
I believe there are very few characters that leave this kind of an impression or are this well received but Anokhilal is a beloved character and it got picked up by the audience so quickly, even though it is quite a quirky character and even his catchphrase has been so popular. It just makes me feel grateful but also goes to the credit of the character because it may seem unusual but it is a very well written character and it is such a joy to play this role.
How have you dealt with fan reactions over the years and is there something that you would like to pass on?
To be honest, I've never met a fan who has been disrespectful. They have a genuine appreciation for the role. They understand the difference between the reel and real life of an actor. They speak with so much appreciation for me as an actor because I do such an unusual character and they are aware that all I do is to entertain them. And all I want to say to them is that they stay happy and be kind to themselves and the world and keep saying 'I like It'.
TellyChakkar was the first to confirm the news that Vidisha Srivastava will be replacing Neha Pendse on the show. Vidisha is known for her roles in shows like Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, Meri Gudiya, Kahat Hanuman Jai Shri Ram among others will essay the role of the infamous Anita Bhabhi.
