Honestly, I felt like a winner in Jhalak: Lauren Gottlieb

Lauren Gottlieb
One person who ruled the sets of Season 6 of Colors’ Jhalak Dikkhla Jaa (BBC Worldwide) was the finalist of the international reality series So You Think You Can Dance, Lauren Gottlieb. Hence it was obvious that this ABCD star’s entry would raise eye brows in a show meant primarily for non-dancers. However, the pretty lady went on to showcase her talent at different levels where she not only performed in dance forms that she had expertise in, but also excelled performing different genres. As a matter of fact, she was the only contestant to get full 30 marks a record 16 times. Therefore, while the lovers of Drashti Dhami were rejoicing the finale moment that declared her victorious on this battle of dance, Lauren’s fans couldn’t get over the fact that she did not take the trophy and the prize money back home. We at Tellychakkar.com spoke to Lauren on Jhalak and more… We started by telling her that there are a lot of people out there who feel that she deserved to be the winner, to which she simply laughed and said, “That’s sweet!!! Honestly I felt like a winner, as in spite of being a foreigner, I managed to make a place for myself in the hearts of the Indian audiences. I gave in some of the best acts. The trophy and the money would have been good and I do feel bad about the fact that I did not get it, but then I had an amazing run on the show. So, I am content.” Do you think Drashti Dhami deserved to be a winner? “She did push herself to different limits with the crazy work schedule she had to go through. So, I am happy for her.” We’ve seen Lauren bonding with her choreographer Puneet on the sets of Jhalak.., hence we popped up the very important ‘Are you dating him’ question to her. “I haven’t thought of that; we are really good friends for now,” she quipped. That means that you’ll stay in touch with Puneet post Jhalak? “We share a bond that started from the day I came down to Mumbai and he took me under his wings. He was my translator on the sets of Jhalak and because he was telling me what was happening around me most of the time, he would miss on a lot of it (laughs). He trusted me and went on to take a risk by letting me play Charlie Chaplin and Michael Jackson. I don’t think I am gonna leave him ever,” she answers. Best moment you had on Jhalak…? “It’s been an incredible journey on Jhalak and the best moment was when I and Puneet performed on a contemporary number. So alluring was our performance that Karan Johar stood up in appreciation and Madhuri (Dixit) Ma’m repeated ‘I love you’ four times while Remo (D’souza) bowed down to us in salutation. I will any day choose that moment instead of the trophy.” Remind her about Hrithik Roshan’s interest to act with her in a movie, and she confesses, “Initially someone had asked me which Bollywood star I’d like to dance with and I had told them Hrithik. So, dancing with him in the finale was dream come true. And I just hope that I get an opportunity to act with him.” So what’s next for this girl with sexy abs? “I am excited to get back to acting. I have a couple of film offers in Bollywood, but I could not give them time as I was busy with Jhalak. Now that I have the time, I will concentrate on my acting.” Well said Lauren; we wish you all the luck!!!
