MUMBAI: For years, everyone has enjoyed 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah,' one of the most popular TV shows. Everything about the show is entertaining, from Jethalal's life to the Gokuldham Society's fights. The show’s first episode was aired on 28th July 2008. The show also enjoys a massive viewership of family audiences worldwide. Every character of the show has become very popular amongst the masses.

The interesting chemistry of Babita and Iyer played by Munmun Dutta and Tanuj Mahashabde has always entertained audiences. The two are one of the cutest on-screen couples in the show.

From Iyer’s innocent spat with Dilip Joshi’s Jethalal to Jethalal flirting with the latter’s wife (Babita Ji), we all were left in complete splits after watching them in the TMKOC episodes. However, did you know that Tanuj himself was left shocked when it was revealed to him that he would be playing Munmun’s husband in the sitcom?

Tanuj Mahashabde, who first started his work for the Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah as a screenplay writer and assistant director, later on went to bag the role of Krishnan Iyer in the hit sitcom. During a conversation, the actor spilled the beans that he was quite stunned when he was offered a pivotal role.

The reason for it was because he was chosen to play the husband of beautiful, Munmun Dutta aka Babita Ji in the show. Tanuj during the conversation said, “Not just others, but even I found it hard to digest that I am playing a partner of a beautiful lady in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.”

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has captivated audiences for more than a decade. It is based on the late humorist, writer, playwright, and author Taarak Mehta's weekly column 'Duniya Ne Undha Chasma.' For the unversed, an animated series based on the sitcom will stream on Netflix soon.

Stay tuned for more news from the entertainment industry.
