Looks like our TV serials are now inspiring the likes of Javed Akhtar. The National award-winning, acclaimed lyricist took time off to launch the Star Plus show Chaand Chupa Baadal Mein (starting on Star Plus on June 28) for which he has also lent his voice to its on-air promotion.
He said he wanted to associate himself with the show because of its ‘Hindustaniyyat’. The serial set in Simla is steeped in Indian values and the cultural traditions of India.

He regretted that most present-day films and TV serials had lost touch with the ground reality and one could not relate to them as one did with the films of the 40s, 50s or 60s. His trademark wit surfaced when he said that he had forgotten the difference between “a 100 meter race and a marathon” when he sees serials refusing to touch the finishing line.
Rajan Shahi whose Sapna Babul Ka Bidaai and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai are already on air on the channel is the producer of Chaand… too.
The show revolves around Nivedita’s self- imposed restrictions and resistance towards love, preventing her from committing to a relationship with Siddharth who comes from a business family and is unable to express his love. Nivedita is a 20- year- old whose world is her immediate family. A motherless child, she shies from public gaze.
