MUMBAI: In her latest vlog, Rubina Dilaik opened up about the harsh beauty standards still prevalent in society, particularly when it comes to children. She expressed her concern and disappointment over how people have been comparing the skin tone of her 20-month-old twin daughters.

Rubina emphasized how unsettling it is to see such superficial judgments being made about toddlers, and urged people to move beyond outdated mindsets. She passionately spoke about the importance of embracing every child’s uniqueness and nurturing them with love and confidence, rather than subjecting them to societal stereotypes from such a tender age.

Rubina shared, “One of my daughters has a slightly dusky complexion while the other is fair, and people often come and make comparisons, which I find really upsetting. I always make it a point to remind them that my daughter is beautiful, regardless of her skin tone. I firmly tell them not to bring such comparisons into my home.”

Rubina also opened up about dealing with unsolicited advice from family members and relatives, particularly when it comes to her daughters' appearance. She revealed that some people suggest traditional home remedies like applying dal paste or besan to lighten her daughter’s complexion. However, Rubina firmly shuts down such suggestions. “Sometimes, even our own relatives recommend these things, thinking they’re being helpful,” she said. “But I immediately tell them not to even think about it. My daughters are beautiful just the way they are.”

Rubina emphasized that she refuses to let such regressive mindsets influence her parenting, and is determined to raise her children in an environment where they are loved and celebrated for who they are—not how they look.
