MUMBAI: The death of veteran actor Anupam Shyam, who was playing the role of Thakur Sajjan Singh in Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya 2, has come as a shock to the cast and crew of his TV show.
The 63-year-old actor passed away due to multiple organ failure today in Mumbai. He was in the intensive care unit for a week.
Rajan Shahi, the producer of Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya 2, said in a statement, "I am deeply saddened to hear about the demise of Anupam Shyamji. May his family get all the strength to sail through these difficult times. I remember when we started with Pratigya season 2, he was extremely happy to work again and play his favourite character, Sajjan Singh. He was always so lively and full of enthusiasm and will be remembered for his remarkable performances. May his soul rest in peace.".
Last year in March, Anupam Shyam was hospitalised after he developed serious kidney issues. Even after he recovered, he had to undergo dialysis on a regular basis.
In fact, he used to complete his shoot and go for dialysis thrice a week. Even though he was ill yet he didn't lose hope to entertain people.
The actor, who was passionate about his craft, hailed from Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh and started his career in 1993. He has acted in a number of films including Dastak, Dil Se…, Lagaan, Golmaal and Munna Michael.
On TV as well, he was a part of shows like Rishtey, Doli Armaano Ki, Krishna Chali London and Hum Ne Li Hai- Shapath. But he was most popular for his role in Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya.
