MUMBAI: Manish Wadhwa is a well-known Indian voice-over actor and actor in film and television for his portrayal as Acharya Chanakya in the NDTV series Chandragupta Maurya. He began his acting career by appearing in Khatta Meetha, a comedy production, at a theatre in Mumbai. Wadhwa has provided his voice for commercials and other advertisements. He is also a voice-over artist. In Paramavtar Shree Krishna, he is playing the part of Kans. He also contributed to Hindi movies like Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi and Peshwa Bajirao (2017) and (2019) respectively. He is most remembered and recognized for his performance as Acharya Chanakya in the NDTV Imagine television series Chandragupta Maurya.
He played the character of Amal Wadhwa aka Dansh on Sony SAB’s Hero: Gayab Mode On. Dansh was a negative character. The unique thing about Dansh’s character is that it required a lot of patience because it used to take two-and-a-half hours to put on the makeup. He needed to sit in one place and then a heavy costume. With all that, he had to do action scenes as well.
The makeup used to be very time-consuming and involved prosthetics. There used to be a complete transformation in his look. He used to have different colored lenses for his eyes, a prosthetic covering of a different shade for his scalp, and a base layer for his face that did not match the usual skin color so as to differentiate him from a regular human.
A proper session took place before he started playing Dansh where a live cast was taken and a model of his face and neck was made. There were proper prosthetic and makeup experts who did this.
