MUMBAI: Jatin Sarna is known for his performance as Bunty in Sacred Games. He also impressed one and all with his act as Yashpal Sharma in the movie 83, and currently, he is busy garnering praise for his performance in Khakee: The Bihar Chapter.
Khakee: The Bihar Chapter started streaming on Netflix a few days ago, and it has been getting a good response. TellyChakkar recently interacted with Jatin and spoke to him about the response he has been getting for his performance, his experience of working with Neeraj Pandey, and more.
What is the response that you are getting for your performance in Khakee: The Bihar Chapter?
The response has been phenomenal. This is something I was looking forward to as after Sacred Games, it took two more years because of the pandemic, and with 83 also we struggled. I was looking for something like this because as an actor you want to stand out among the other actors. I was doing something like this for the first time; I am not talking about playing the role of a gangster, but a character that belongs to an area like Bihar. So, for me, it was a very interesting character.
Neeraj Pandey has created the series, so how was your experience working with him?
It has been a very good journey. I had done a film titled Saat Uchakkey under his banner, so I met him then in 2012 and had always been a huge admirer of his work, and I always wanted to be a part of his films. So, when I came to know that he is creating the series, it was an immediate yes for me. When I did Saat Uchakkey, I told him that I want to work under his direction. After the success of Khakee, I messaged him that sir I deserve a promotion now, and he said ‘yes agreed’. It’s a great feeling when you work with people you admire. He has been very supportive, so I am very thankful.
Karan Tacker praised your performance in Sacred Games in one of his interviews, so how does it feel to work with a co-actor who is already a fan of your work?
I think it’s great and that’s how you know bonding starts which is very important for projects like these. There’s an ensemble cast; there are senior actors, there are contemporary actors, and you have to fit in all of that. I have also been an admirer of Karan Tacker. After I saw Special OPS, I messaged him on Instagram that I liked his work. The same goes for Avinash Tiwari, I admire him as an actor as well. I loved him in Laila Majnu. But, I didn’t get a chance to work with Ashutosh Rana sir and Ravi Kishan sir.
