Swach Bharat Abhiyaan is great symbolism to create awareness - Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan
Indian PM Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan has caught the imagination of everyone in the country with even celebs from different walks of lives taking part in cleaning their streets with a broom in hand. Bollywood too has been at the forefront with many superstars including Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan taking to the streets as part of this campaign. The only one perhaps missing from scene has been Shah Rukh Khan. The superstar however recently offered his view on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and the reason behind him not having swept the roads yet. When asked why he hasn't participated in the campaign, SRK said, "Main dil se saaf hoon (My heart is clean). Also, I find it a bit odd to sweep with the broom and gloves on." SRK however said that PM Modi's Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan was a great example of symbolism. "I think it is a great example of symbolism and is it important to have such symbolism to create awareness. When we actors get associated with brands, one shouldn't think that just because we are using it they should also start using it. The main intention is to create awareness through symbolism. One shouldn't see a photo ops as publicity. It is done to create symbolic awareness which is important when it comes to cleanliness. There are a lot of issues that need awareness. When we travel in cars, we have the tendency of throwing things out of the window. If someone creates an awareness through symbolism that it is wrong, the next time before throwing you will atleast think about it. So I think creating symbolism especially for cleanliness is very important." Well said SRK, we say.
